Gauteng Cycling wears multiple hats, orchestrating a harmonious symphony of cycling events, community engagement, club support and athlete development.

Disciplines

The official Gauteng Cycling website serves as the digital nexus where enthusiasts converge. Navigating through our well-structured interface, you will discover the manifold roles that Gauteng Cycling plays. At the apex, it oversees and supports the four regions nestled under its purview, each with its unique flavour and cycling fervour. Gauteng Cycling acts as the linchpin connecting these regions, ensuring a cohesive approach to promoting cycling and nurturing talent.

Schools

School Cycling in South Africa is MTB lap racing on safe, well-marked, non-technical circuits. Riders compete in age-group heats with timed laps and points toward school and provincial standings, leading to regional and national finals.

Track

Velodrome racing on fixed-gear, brakeless bikes. Sprint (sprint, keirin, team sprint) and endurance (pursuit, omnium, Madison, points) events under strict timing and equipment standards.

Clubs & Community

Delving further into the cycling ecosystem, Gauteng Cycling acknowledges the vital role played by cycling clubs. These clubs function as custodians of the cyclists’ welfare. They go beyond being mere enclaves for enthusiasts, evolving into hubs of support, mentorship, and camaraderie. Gauteng Cycling, cognisant of this grassroots influence, actively collaborates with these clubs, recognising them as integral components in the holistic development of cyclists in the province.
